Relix magazine: my experience

I was published 21 times in Relix magazine between April 2002 and August 2004.

For Relix, which focuses exclusively on music, I wrote artist profiles and feature stories, for which I conducted a number of interviews, including David Grisman, Spearhead’s Michael Franti, Tea Leaf Green, and Juan Nelson from Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals.

I reviewed concerts, albums and also a book. I reviewed albums by Coldplay, Maceo Parker, David Grisman Quintet, et al. Some of the concerts I reviewed included Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, and the four-day 2003 High Sierra Music Festival, during which I teamed with Relix’s editor-in-chief, Aeve Baldwin, to conduct a workshop for aspiring music writers. The Disco Biscuits, Tea Leaf Green and other artists also participated, offering their takes on dealing with the media.

Two of my Relix articles are available on this site: a feature story on Tea Leaf Green, and a review of their album, Living in Between.
